“Allow me a brief reflection on the Italian and global geopolitical situation. I’m not a politician, but I know a bit of history, which leads me to make some reflections on the current situation—and they’re not very optimistic. Europe, a failed invention that has turned into a dictatorship of bureaucrats in Brussels, is collapsing in on itself, a victim of the mediocrity of its leaders. Countries with the same population as Rome claim the right to dictate its foreign or monetary policy. There are 27 armies, 10 types of tanks, and at least 5 types of fighter-bombers. They are still tearing their clothes over the decisions of the American President who, on the other hand, minds his own damn business—and whose business should he mind? Russia, never defeated on its own soil, moves toward its goal confident that it will reach it, and China, sly and quiet, in the meantime goes about its own damn business in silence. And ours? They do like the stars in Cronin’s story: ‘They just stand and watch!’”
