Who was Pythagoras of Samos, really?
A mathematician? A philosopher? A spiritual teacher? Or a man who knew secrets that his time was not yet ready to understand?

From his native Samos to Magna Graecia, passing through the great centres of knowledge of the Mediterranean, Pythagoras spent his entire life pursuing a form of knowledge capable of bringing together number, harmony, nature and the destiny of mankind.

In Croton, he found the place where he could transform his ideas into a community destined to become legend. Yet behind the rigorous philosopher emerges a restless, charismatic and mysterious man, caught up in the affairs of a city marked by its war with Sybaris and torn by passions, rivalries and conflicts.

How much truth lies behind the stories that have transformed him into an almost superhuman figure? And how much, instead, belongs to a man who was extraordinarily modern?

This book searches for the Pythagoras hidden behind the myth, following his human, intellectual and spiritual journey to the very threshold of legend.

Because perhaps Pythagoras left us more than just a theorem.

He left us a question: how much can we truly know about the world and about ourselves?

Pythagoras. A name everyone knows. A man almost no one truly knows.

From Samos to Magna Graecia, through journeys, encounters and mysterious knowledge, Pythagoras spent his entire life pursuing a truth capable of uniting numbers, harmony, nature and the destiny of mankind.

In Croton, he founded a community destined to become legend, while admiration, rivalry and mystery grew around him.

How much truth is there in the man whom history transformed into a legend?

This book searches for the Pythagoras hidden behind the myth: the philosopher, the teacher, the traveller and, above all, the man.

And perhaps, after more than two thousand five hundred years, his question is still our own:

how much can we truly know about the world and about ourselves?
